On Friday, Feb. 15, the deadline to file for a place on the Alice City Council and the Alice Independent School Board ballot for the May 4th election.

Filing for city candidates and Alice ISD School Board ended with a total of eight individuals in the race for city council and six for school board.

The eight people who will be on the election ballet for city council are:

For Mayor, Cynthia Ann Carrasco will run against Incumbent Jolene Vanover.

Pete Crisp for place 1 and Robert Molina for place 4, both incumbents will run with no opposition. 

Place 2, will have Mauricio Garza II will run against Incumbent Ron Burke.

In place 3, Sandra Bowen and Tony Sexton will campaign against each other.

The six individuals running for school board are:

Place 1, Robert “Bobby” Pena will run against Jennifer Barrera Solis. Incumbent Mike Cochran did not file.

Cirilo “Ciro” C. Zamora, Miguel Casarez and Bambi Lopez filed for place 4. Incumbent Anjanette Benavides did not file.

Incumbent Lee S. Ramon will run for place 5 with no opposition.

Election Day is on Saturday, May 4.
