Alice – Juan “Johnny” Tijerina, age 64, passed away February 3, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born August 11, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jose and Nieves Tijerina. Johnny worked in the agriculture industry for many years as a farmer. He later established, owned and operated Tijerina’s Lawn Service. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed barbecuing and having a good time with his family. He will forever be remembered for his love of spending quality time with his children and grandchildren and having his talks with his sons. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Nieves Tijerina; sister, Estella Gallegos; and great-granddaughter, Miah Gonzalez.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dolores Tijerina of Alice; four children, Elizabeth Tijerina (Amado Ramirez Jr.) of Alice, Edna Guerra (Jesse) of Banquete, Patricia Flores (Jose Luis) of Alice, and Juan Tijerina Jr. (Yvette) of Alice; siblings, Raul Tijerina (Mary Lou) of Corpus Christi, Jose Tijerina of Orange Grove, Juanita Alvarado of Falfurrias, Noe Tijerina (Dora) of Kingsville, Ray Tijerina (Yolanda) of Rivera, Mario Tijerina (Thelma) of Kingsville, and Lupe Davila (Ernesto) of Alice; 11 grandchildren, Albert Gonzalez (Bianca), Jeremiah Gonzalez, Amador Ramirez, Amando Ramirez, Anya Ramirez, Rene Guerra, Emily Guerra, Haley Flores, Justin Flores, Jonathan Flores, and Sofia Flores; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a grand-furbaby, Buddy.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 12 pm till 1:30 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m. that same day. A funeral mass will follow at 3 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Albert Gonzalez Jr., Jeremiah Gonzalez, Rene Guerra, Amador Ramirez, Amando Ramirez, Justin Flores, and Jonathan Flores.
