Dalia Vargas Benavides
Alice – Dalia Vargas Benavides, age 79, passed away March 20, 2022 in Alice, Texas. She was born November 29, 1942 in Falfurrias, Texas to Agustin and Irene Vargas. Dalia enjoyed attending church, singing and cooking. She was always willing to help anyone in need and was a generous donor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agustin and Irene Vargas; husband, Renato Benavides Sr.; son, Oscar Javier Benavides Sr.; three great-grandchildren, Mariah Nicole Saldaña, Dora Elize Benavides and Aryona Grace Garcia.
Dalia is survived by her children, Roel Benavides (Jeana) of Alice, Araceli Peña (Ruben) of Alice, Norma Garcia (the late Jesse) of Alice, and Renato Benavides Jr. (Mary) of Kingsville; grandson raised as a son, Roland Peña (Nikki) of Alice; siblings, Diamantina Hinojosa (the late Cleofas) of Sandia, Yolanda Cabrera (Jose Maria) of Premont, Fernando Vargas (Diana) of Sandia, and Daniel Vargas (Delia) of Alice; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service being held at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at the Benavides-Pena Cemetery in Alice.
Pallbearers will be Richard Benavides, Oscar Benavides Jr., Timothy Benavides, Adrian Garcia, Aiden Peña, Ricky Peña, and Roland Daniel Peña Jr.
