The British Faire and Tea is an annual celebration of all things British. Visit the Faire to shop for British items including specialty foods and crafts. Listen to live music and be entertained by Highland and Celtic dancers. Learn about Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) at the membership booth. Enjoy a traditional British afternoon tea.
Q. Who is DBE?
A. Daughters of the British Empire in Kansas is part of a national society, Daughters of the British Empire in the USA (DBE), a nonprofit, nonpolitical voluntary society of women of British or British Commonwealth birth or ancestry, who reside in the United States of America. DBE in Kansas, Inc. covers the Greater Kansas City, Missouri, metropolitan area on both sides of the state line, as well as the state of Kansas. Five chapters meet in and around Kansas City from the Northland to Belton, Independence to Lenexa, and Overland Park. A sixth chapter covers Lawrence and Topeka.
Q. When do the tea tickets go on sale?
A. Online sales of the tea tickets begin September 1, 2019, and end on November 1, 2019. Online fees apply. No refunds.

Q: Is there an admission charge?
A: Yes. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children 4-12, and FREE for children under 4.
Q: Can I buy a ticket in advance just for the Faire?
A: Faire only tickets are only sold at the door the day of the event. Cash is preferred.
Q: What are the times for the four teas?
A: Seatings for the teas are at 10:30, 11:45, 1:00, and 2:15. Please note these are new times for 2019.
Q: How much is the tea?
A: The tea is $20 and includes free admission to the faire. Tickets purchased online will be assessed a fee.
Q: What is included in the tea?
A: The tea may include finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, shortbreads, scones & jam, truffles, and lashings of tea.
Q: What if I have a food allergy?
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any special requirements at this time.
Q. Can I buy a ticket for the tea in advance?
A. Yes, online through Eventbrite. Online ticket sales begin September 1 and end November 1. Online fees do apply.
Q. What’s the refund policy?
A. There are no refunds for tickets.
Q. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
A. No, you do not have to bring your printed tea ticket to the event.
Q. Is my tea ticket transferrable?
A. Yes, you may give your tea ticket to someone else. Please make sure the new ticketholder knows the name of the person who bought the ticket.

Q. Can I purchase a tea ticket at the door?
A. Yes. A limited number of tea tickets for the four teas may be purchased at the door the day of the event (cash preferred). Tickets sell out fast for each tea which may mean if you arrive by 11 a.m., only the 1 p.m. or 2:15 p.m. tea may be available.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Cash is preferred to enter the event. Many of our vendors only accept cash, so please bring plenty. Some vendors are able to accept credit cards.
Q: Are there handicapped accommodations?
A: There is handicapped parking available and a lift (elevator) to take you down to the tea.
Q: Is there entertainment?
A: There is entertainment throughout the day which includes dancers, musicians, royalty, and possibly a magician.
Q: What is the entertainment schedule?
A: The schedule will be posted on the website (www.dbekansas.org) as soon as it is available, which is usually a few weeks before the event. It is also listed in the program that you receive at the door.

A: Information on vendors will be posted on our Facebook page and website (www.dbekansas.org) as it becomes available.

Q: Where can I park?
A: There are plenty of parking spots at the Abdallah Shrine Temple on Metcalf. A limited number of spots are available around the main building including disabled parking. The larger lot by the Cargill office is available for all patrons. There is also a 3rd lower lot on the other side of 53rd Street. If needed, you can drop people off at the front door and park in the lower lot.
Q: How soon do the doors open?
A: The doors may be open for vendors and volunteers, but you will not be able to enter the event until 10 a.m.
Q: Is this a fundraising event?
A: The British Faire is a fundraising event for the Daughters of the British Empire. Proceeds go to the British Home and local charities.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Only service dogs are allowed.
