CORPUS CHRISTI – The 2022 Coastal Bend Hurricane Conference had officials from several Coastal Bend Counties ready to learn the latest on how to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. The event was held on Wednesday, May 4 and Thursday, May 5.
Hurricane Season starts June 1 and ends on Nov. 30, but hurricanes can develop before or after the official season.
Officials from Brooks County, Duval County, City of Orange Grove, City of Alice, City of San Diego and Spohn Christus Hospital participated in the conference.
Keynote speakers included Melissa Huffman with Warning Coordination Meteorologist National Weather Service, and Chief W. Nim Kidd, Vice Chancellor for Disaster and Emergency Services with the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
This year’s list of storm names for the Atlantic basin are Alex, Bonnie, Colin, Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Gaston, Hermine, Ian, Julia, Karl, Lisa, Martin, Nicole, Owen, Paula, Richard, Shary, Tobias, Virginie and Walter.
