Juaquina Kina Trejo
Amargozo Community – Our beautiful monarch and angel has gained her wings. Juaquina Kina Trejo gained her angel wings on December 6, 2021 at the age of 89 years old surrounded by her loving family. Kina as everyone knew her was born to Leonardo Pena and Maria De Jesus (Chuchita) Casas on January 5, 1932 in San Diego, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Leonardo Pena and Maria de Jesus Casas, husband Romeo Trejo, Sr., two great granddaughters, Evelyn Renee Contreras and Brylee Trejo, her sisters, Jovita Hernandez and Zulema Gomez and a brother Daniel (Danny) Pena, brother- in-law Celestino Hernandez. She attended school in San Diego where she played volleyball. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, working on her yard and spending time with her family. She was a devoted Catholic and had a strong faith in God. She was a founder and very involved in helping build the Mission Church of Santo Nino De Atocha in the Tecolote Community where she faithfully served as a Sacristan, CCD Teachers Aide and helped maintain the Church grounds. Kina married the love of her life Romeo Trejo, Sr., and together they had five children, Romeo (Emma) Trejo, Sr., Raul Trejo, Nora (Jerry) Contreras, Sr., Rogelio Roy Trejo and Rodolfo Rudy (Venessa) Trejo, Adrian (Elena) Benavides whom she raised as a son, from Alice, Texas. 11 Grandchildren: Tasha (Joe) Valdez, Cody (Gerardo) Villarreal, Quisto Romeo Trejo, Linda Lamar Trejo, Lillian (Lilly) Torrez, Lori (Mike) Nunez, Pamela (Robert) Olivarez, III, Jerry (Rebeca) Contreras, Jr., Rudy (Jennifer) Trejo, Jr., Randy (Mariah) Trejo, and Reba (Javier Garcia) Trejo. 21 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great- Granddaughter. Numerous nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law: Hope Pena of Brownsville, Texas, San Juan Trejo of Corpus Christi, Texas, Amalia Trejo of Alice, Texas. Brother-in-law: Mario Gomez of Muleshoe, Texas. Honorary Pallbearers: Jerry Zander Contreras, Ryan Michael Nunez, Robert Olivarez IV, Quisto Romeo Trejo, Jr., Romeo Andres Olivarez. Active Pallbearers: Quisto Romeo Trejo, Joe Valdez, Mike Nunez, Erasmo Trejo Aguilar, Jr., Jerry Contreras, Jr., Robert Olivarez, III, Rudy Trejo, Jr., and Rodolfo Trevino. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 1pm-5pm at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice. Visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church will follow at 5:30 p.m. that same evening with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by the burial at the San Diego Cemetery.
