Alice – Mary Ruth Alexander, age 82, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, in Alice, Texas. She was born on September 25, 1939, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Mary Bell O’riely, and adopted by Buck Horner Guion and Nellie Teresa Richmond.
She is preceded in death by her parents and other family members.
Mary Ruth began her relationship with God at First Presbyterian Church then moved to become a member of the First Lutheran Church of Orange Grove, TX. She taught school for over 10 years and was previously employed by Dixie Iron Works and Shelton Cook Appraisal District. Mary Ruth was a dedicated volunteer at Christus Spohn Hospital for over 10 yrs., she was a member of the Board of Directors for Camp Fire Girls, and was currently active with her sorority, “Beta Sigma Phi”. She was also active in the Red Hatter Society. Mary Ruth had a passion for children and shared her love with many of them in the community as she was affectionately remembered as “Puddin the Clown”.
Loved ones left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 23 years, Benarr C. Alexander of Alice, Texas; children, Bryan (Veronica) Young of Freer, Texas, Bradley K Young of Alice, Texas, Brenda Garcia (Jose Agurra) of McAllen, Texas, Benarr C. Alexander of Australia, Melanie (Jeff) Bowman of Burnett, Texas, and Shayne Alexander or North Dakota; grandchildren, Hayden, Nathan, Courtney, Deven Tiffany, Jennifer, Tara, Ashely, Emily, Emily H., Scott, Lucas, Britten, and Kayla; great grandchildren, Kenzie, Kody, James, Juliette, Willow, Lankin, Josie, Haley, Harper, Tyler, Aaliyah, Natalee, Braydon, Seth, Ayden, Ava, and Landon; and sister, Waldine Nesloney of Alice, Texas
Family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 27, at First Lutheran Church of Orange Grove. Burial will follow at Sons of Herman Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.
