Corpus Christi – Joel O. Hinojosa, Jr., “Joey”, 39, was called by our Heavenly Father on December 30, 2021. He was a resident of Corpus Christi, Tx.
Joey was born on September 17, 1982 to Joel O. Hinojosa and the late Cecilia V. Hinojosa in Laredo, Tx. They moved to Encino, Tx. when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Falfurrias High School in 2001. After graduation he attended Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, Tx.
Joey had a passion for music and was a talented musician. He played bass guitar with bands in the Corpus Christi area where he lived and worked. He worked in the oil and gas industry for many years and most recently as an AFS operator at SUNOCO. Like many Texans, Joey was an avid outdoorsman, a Dallas Cowboys fan, and an even bigger fan of the San Antonio Spurs. Joey was a true gamer who was known for his big smile, his laughter and an even bigger heart.
Joey is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Cecilia, his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Hilda Hinojosa, and his maternal grandfather, Transito Villarreal.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Joel O. and Thelma Hinojosa of San Antonio, Tx., his sisters Liza (Aldo) Hinojosa of Corpus Christi, Tx., and Lizzy Hinojosa of San Antonio, Tx., stepsisters Ericka Huey of San Antonio, Tx., Jennifer (Dennis) Talbott of San Antonio, Tx., and Jaclynn (John) Mills of Rosenberg, Tx., nephews Nikko Martinez of San Antonio Tx., Dylan Ruiz of Corpus Christi, Tx., Skylar Dunn, Logan Talbott, and Max Talbott of San Antonio, Tx., Hunter Mills and Holden Mills of Rosenberg, Tx. and nieces Cynthia Cantu of San Antonio, Tx., Katlin Huey of San Antonio, Tx. And Harper Mills of Rosenberg, Tx.
Also left to cherish his memory are his grandmother, Elia Villarreal of Encino, Tx., step-grandmother, Eulalia Garza of San Antonio, Tx., and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10:30, Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Alaniz Funeral Home of Falfurrias, TX. Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Falfurrias, TX. Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
