Elida Saenz
Alice – Elida Saenz, age 68, passed away March 4, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on March 9, 1953 in Kenedy, Texas to Eliverto Zuniga and Tomasa Zuniga. The family moved from Kenedy, Texas then resided in Alice, Texas where they spent their teenage years. She graduated Alice High School in 1973 and it was in Alice where she met Leo Saenz. She married Leo in 1977 and had three children, Joe Michael, Leo Jr., and Andy Saenz. While maintaining her passion in cosmetology, she also pursued her certification as a Medication Aide from Bee County College which is now currently known as Coastal Bend College. Elida maintained her academic standing amongst the top 10 percent of the class and continued her work as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Elida, along with her husband Leo, raised their household in Alice where they pushed through obstacles life laid before them. Her hobbies consisted of cosmetology, sewing, crocheting, and reading. Elida was a strong member of the Kingdom Hall where she maintained devotion as a Jehovah’s witness. She studied the bible and became one of Jehovah’s witnesses. She was baptized August 1, 1998. Later, after her husband passed away in 2003, she worked for Walmart as a maintenance crew member until her retirement in 2013. She will be dearly missed.
Elida was preceded in death by her parents, Eliverto and Tomasa Zuniga; her husband, Leo Saenz; a sister, Esmeralda Martinez; and a brother, Jesse Zuniga.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Michael Saenz (Anika) of Alice, Texas, Leo Saenz Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Andy Saenz (Amanda) of Alice, Texas; brothers, Eliverto Zuniga Jr. (Alma), Felix Zuniga (Sylvia) of Alice, Texas, and Richard Zuniga (Loretta) of Jacksonville, Florida; 12 grandchildren, Julia Rene Saenz, Leo Saenz III, Delilah Faith Saenz, Jacob Samuel Saenz, Joe Saenz Jr., Melanie Saenz, Jolynn Saenz, Justin Rivera (Melissa), Victoria Lynn Tanguma (Carlo), Ryan Alexander Saenz, and Andrea Rose Saenz, 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, from 12 till 1 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to be held at 1 p.m. that same day. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leo Saenz Jr., Ray Villarreal, Leo Saenz III, Joe Michael Saenz, Joe Michael Saenz Jr., and Andy Saenz.
