Dorothy Jean Steindorf
Boerne – Dorothy Jean Steindorf passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Sunday, March 13, 2022, in Boerne, Texas. She was 87.
Dorothy was born in Harlingen, Texas on May 15, 1934, and moved to Alice with her parents, sister, and grandmother when she was 10 years old. She and her twin sister, Betty were always known as the “Stewart Twins”. She met Bert Steindorf at the Orange Grove Rifle Club. They started to date and he asked her to marry him on the second date. They were married in 1951. She worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator until her husband, Bert bought his Humble (Exxon) Station and then she started keeping books for him and ended up being a bookkeeper for many years until her retirement.
Dorothy moved to Bulverde to be near her daughter and grandson and then moved to Boerne in 2013. That is where she resided until her death.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Stewart and Esther Stewart, her twin sister, Betty Harborth, her son, Bert Steindorf, Jr. and the father of her children, Bert Steindorf, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Iris Jean Humphreys, of Bulverde/Spring Branch, Texas, her grandson and pride and joy, Hayden Lance Humphreys (Kendall Barnhart) of San Marcos, Texas, and her best friend of 77 years, Dorothy Jean Pritchett White, her loving companion, Barkley and her dear friends and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Alice Cemetery.
