Nelda Wilson Flores returned home to the loving embrace of Jesus, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in San Antonio, TX after a lengthy illness surrounded by her devoted husband, Mike Flores, and other family members.
Nelda was born January 15, 1963, in Alice, TX to Robert Wilson and Elvira Munguia. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Wilson, a sister, Nora Garcia and a niece, Sharon Soulas. Nelda is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Mike Flores; brothers, Robert Wilson and Ruben Munguia; sister, Norma Benoit; nephews, Wayne Benoit and Isai Garcia; and nieces, Casi Leo, Celina Anguiano, and Briana Aguilar, and numerous cousins.
To describe Nelda would take a lifetime, so we will focus on her spirit and persona that gifted the many people she encountered in her short life. Nelda was a beautiful, smart, vivacious, and talented woman who never met a stranger. Her smile was infectious and would light up a room wherever she went, immersing her sweet nature in getting to know you. Focused on others, she chose to be present to whatever was going on in your life, rather than ruminate on hers. Nelda made you feel like you were the only person in the world, lifting your spirits, holding you through whatever may have been going on in your life in that moment, and renewing and re-energizing your spirit.
Nelda used her multiple gifts such as organization and conveying thoughts within a career in law, working in numerous law firms in south Texas as a paralegal. She loved the beach, sunrises, water balloon fights (yes, water balloon fights!) and knew in that deep place within when it was time to take a road trip with her lifelong partner to travel, explore and ultimately just enjoy each other.
Nelda left a profound impact on so very many people in her life, with her courage, faith, and determination to leave the world a better place. She talked about what God had gifted her with, never doubting her destination as she drew her last breath. And the world is a better place because of her.
The Flores, Guerra and Wilson families would like to acknowledge with profound gratitude the healthcare team on the 9th floor at University Hospital, San Antonio, TX, for their skill, compassion, presence, assistance, and amazing care of Nelda.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16
