Clifton Frank Boerm, age 90, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family on March 4, 2023. He was born on August 8, 1932 in Nordheim, Tx to Frank A. and Bertha Boerm. He was baptized on January 26, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim, TX. He moved to Yorktown, TX with his family when he was in the 2nd grade where he began attending Yorktown schools. While he was in high school, he got his first job at the local Piggly Wiggly grocery store as a bag boy. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1950, and immediately after getting his diploma, he began working in the oilfield industry.
In 1953, he went into the military by enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 4th Army and graduated in the 247th Field Artillery Missile Battalion (Corporal) in Fort Bliss, Tx as a Private First Class. He was honorably discharged in 1955. After his time in the army, he went back to work in the oilfield. Throughout his lifetime he had a successful career in the oilfield working for different companies and held several positions, working his way up to a supervisor and then a consultant. He worked for DoWell Oilfield Company for 28 years where he earned multiple work accomplishments and certifications. After retiring from there he began working for Elder Oil Tools for 9 years until he retired from there. After that he worked for a time for Tx Downhole Tools. Clifton was a proud long time member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Sheriffs Association of Texas.
In 1956, he met the love of his Nelda Shroeder at Pop’s Place diner in Cuero, Tx. They began dating and went on to get married on May 5, 1957 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero, Tx. Him and Nelda moved to Alice, Tx a few days later on May 8, 1957, where they settled into their first apartment and Clifton began working for Dowell on May 10. They welcomed their first child, their son Wesley Clifton Boerm on April 5, 1958. Then came their second child, their daughter Karen Dianne Boerm on March 23, 1960. Clifton was confirmed on April 10th, 1960 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Alice, Tx. In 1962, they moved into their current residence which would be their forever home, which held so many memories for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Clifton’s hobbies included everything to do with the outdoors. He loved spending his free time hunting and fishing, especially deer hunting and fishing for catfish. His truest joys in life are his two granddaughters Jackie and Jen. Growing up they spent every day after school and most weekends at their grandparent’s house, and wanted to do everything with him. He taught them so much and supported them in all they did, and was so proud of their many achievements. He helped both of them raise rabbits and eventually bred market rabbits for the Jim Wells Co. Fair for 18 years. Over the years he had instilled in them the importance of hard work, and that education comes first. The memories that he made with them, and with the entire family are priceless and are a true blessing. The family will never forget the lessons he taught them, the memories made with him, how much of a supporter he was, and will forever be grateful and cherish those times in their hearts.
Clifton is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Bertha Boerm, his niece Barbara Reeves Wicker, step-grandson Donny, and numerous close friends including Buddy Newman, Marlin Koerth, and Robert Rankin.
