Raul M. Maldonado Sr., 96 years of age, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Diego, Texas on September 9, 1926. He attended school in San Diego and at the young age 18 years he enlisted to serve our country in the US Army and served duding WWII and always took pride in honoring his country and the US Flag. He retired from Reynolds Metal Co after 30 years of employment. Raul’s passion was dancing, he also enjoyed fishing, barbequing, doing cross word puzzles and especially spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle that will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva C. Maldonado; a son, Raul Mario Maldonado Jr.
Raul is survived by his five sons, Raul M. Maldonado Jr., Roel M. (Diana) Maldonado, Rene M. (Maribel) Maldonado, Ramon M. (Cindy) Maldonado, Rodolfo M. (Elia) Maldonado and one daughter, Rosa M. Maldonado (Norma) all of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters-in-law, Alicia († Alfredo) Rodriguez of San Diego, Texas; Odilia Mendiola of Rockport, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Military Graveside Services and Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
