Moises Pereida, 94 years of age, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his residence in San Diego. He was born in San Diego, Texas on September 4, 1928 to his parents, Justo and Antonia Pereida. He was a hardworking man who was laborer and carpenter’s helper most of his life. Moises enjoyed spending time outdoors at the ranch, where he would go hunting, and he also enjoyed repairing and working on lawnmowers. Moises had a passion for making his tamales and looked forward to it every Christmas. Moises was a devoted father and grandfather who will be missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha P. Pereida; his parents, Justo and Antonia Pereida; brothers and sisters.
Moises is survived by his four sons, Roberto Pereida and Herlindo Pereida both of Corpus Christi, Texas; Roman (Teresa) Pereida of Alice, Texas; Florentino Pereida of San Diego, Texas; two daughters, Gloria Pereida (Federico V. Cantu) of Alice, Texas; Josefina Ibarra (Agustin, Jr.) of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren: numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
