Julia Pena Salinas “Kitty”, 74 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Alice, Texas on November 16, 1948 to her parents, Guadalupe and Julia Pena. Julia devoted her life to her family, raising her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all her dogs. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores doing her makeup and nails, watching “Gunsmoke” and the “Golden Girls”, music and especially spending time at her ranch with her family and her dogs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anatolio Salinas; her parents, Guadalupe Pena and Julia Longoria Pena; her brother, Juan L. Pena; her sisters, Anna “Nana” Luisa Mendiola, Graciela Morin, Celestina “Sally” Trejo “Guera”.
Kitty is survived by her three sons, Lupe Salinas, Leonel (Monica) Salinas, and Anatolio (Rosie) Salinas Jr.; 23 grandchildren, Samantha Torres, Ashley Cavazos, Brandy Salinas, Sophia Salinas, Deseray Cortez, Joe Michael Carrillo, Leonel “NONO” Salinas Jr., Ryan Salinas, Lyann Salinas, Adriel Luna, Lyssa Morin, Jose Saenz, Issa Saenz, Laney Salinas, Kaylee Salinas, May Salinas, Angila Garza, Ayden Salinas, Zayden Medina, Anatolio Salinas III, Nataley Salinas, Addilyn Salinas; 12 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Lupita Cruz, Margarita “Maggie” Hernandez, Gloria Bear “GiGi”, Juanita Pena, Juan Morin Jr., Jimmy Morin, Raul Trevino, Sylvester “Silver” Pena, Mingo “Paco” Mendiola, Elvia Trejo and Jaime Trejo.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
