Abram Benavidez, a man of many talents and a heart full of love, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2023, in Kyle, Texas. Born on February 11, 1979, in Alice, Texas, Abram was a beacon of warmth and generosity to his family, friends, and community.
Abram was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfredo Sr. and Teodora Cora Benavidez; maternal grandparents, Baltazar Cadena and Anita Rodriguez; and uncles, Max Aleman and Manuel Rodriguez.
His memory will be forever cherished by his parents, Alfredo and Gloria Benavidez; siblings, Joe Adrian (Debbie) Valadez, Prisicilla Ann “Prissy” Benavidez, Ronnie (Christina) Benavidez, and Benjamin Benavidez. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Joe Matthew Benavidez, Haley (Alex) Davis, Adam (Angelica) Benavidez, Kyle Valadez, Kenzi Valadez, Ethan Benavidez, Cash Benavidez, Kylie Benavidez, and Kaleigh Benavidez, and great-nieces and nephews, Emma, Duke, Logan, Easton, Gracelynn Lee, and Roman Zackary. His aunts, Dolores Rodriguez, Lydia Serna, and Aurelia Thompson will remember him fondly along with many cousins and dear friends.
Abram was a lifelong learner, which was evident in his diverse educational background. After graduating from Alice High School, he pursued a culinary education, channeling his love for cooking into a professional skill. Later, he earned his nursing degree in 2009, allowing him to care for others in a more profound way. Abram continued his education in 2016, attending barber school and following in his family’s footsteps. He also served as a Safety Educator in the Oilfield and prepared income tax returns, showcasing his versatility and commitment to his community.
His interests were as varied as his education. Abram loved to cook, often delighting family and friends with his culinary creations. His commitment to caring for others led him to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. He also enjoyed barbering; a skill passed down through his family. His role as a Safety Educator in the Oilfield and work preparing income tax returns highlighted his dedication to service and enhancing the safety and wellbeing of his community.
Abram was our all-time party coordinator, who spared no expense. He was a man who could be best described as loving, generous, and spirited. He lived his life with an open heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. His generosity knew no bounds, and his spirited nature brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. His greatest joy was spoiling his nieces and nephews, whom he treated like they were his own children. From the bible this quote encapsulates Abram’s approach to life: “Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
Abram Benavidez’s life was a testament to his kindness, generosity, and spirit. His memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones and the community he served. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding them of the power of love, generosity, and a spirited heart.
Abram’s family will receive condolences on Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Stonegate Baptist Church, 1604 S. Texas Blvd, Alice, TX; with a Prayer Service to begin at 6:00 PM. A Chapel Service will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St. The funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 AM for Rite of Committal and Interment at Alice Cemetery.
