Sonja Folger passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2023, in Alice, Texas. She was born on June 12, 1938, in Adamsboro, Indiana, to her parents Edward and Elsie Spangler and will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She completed her high school education and pursued her passion for caring for others by earning her Nursing School Degree. Sonja dedicated her professional life to her patients, treating each with compassion, kindness, and respect.
Sonja is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Dean Folger; her parents, Edward and Elsie Spangler; and brother, Bill Spangler. Left to cherish her memories are her children, David Folger, Daniel Ray Folger, and Sue Ann Benson; her grandchildren, Tieler Folger, Connie Gerlits, Nikki Gerlits, Lance Gerlits, Jakob Folger, and Kaden Folger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Sonja taught her children to be hardworking, honest, respectful, generous, and kind through her actions and deeds. She was always attentive to the needs of her family, providing a warm, nurturing home filled with love and support.
In addition to her dedication to her family and career, Sonja was a faithful, active member of her church, living her faith through her deeds and actions, giving testimony to her belief in the power of kindness and the importance of serving others. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Rite of Committal and Interment will be held on Monday, November13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
