ANDREW ALANIZ Alice, Texas Andrew Alaniz, age 28, entered eternal rest March 6, 2024 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born August 7, 1995 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Roel and Matilde Alaniz. Andrew enlisted in the United States Army as an Army Medic and served our country with pride for five years while stationed in Texas and serving one deployment to Iraq. Andrew deeply believed in public service, a core belief he wished to carry over into social work. After leaving the Army, Andrew attended Austin Community College achieving an associates degree followed by University of North Texas where he was currently studying to become a social worker. He loved his nephews, was an avid chess player, loved cats, enjoyed reading and debating books, playing music, ping-pong, watching Dallas Cowboys, playing board games, card games, and video games, and serving a larger purpose. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Roel Alaniz; maternal grandparents, Jesus and Aminta Lopez; and paternal grandparents, Eduardo and Sara Alaniz. Andrew is survived by his mother, Matilde Alaniz of Alice; sister, Jennifer Alaniz-Walker (John) of Alice; brother, Roel Alaniz Jr. (Venessa) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Lucas Walker, Eli Walker, Lillian Klingenberg, Chloe Ritchie, and Hanna Ritchie; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 2 p.m. A funeral mass will follow at 3:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
