Nelda Trevino, beloved mother to Cynthia and Mae, went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 14th, 2024. She was a strong, independent woman and expressed an unwavering commitment to her daughters. Her love for them was immeasurable. Her absence is deeply felt, and her presence on this earth will be forever missed.
Mrs. Trevino was born in Alice, Texas to Eulalia and Manuel Ruiz. She spent her youth working to help her parents and spending time with family and many friends. She touched the lives of many, working as a teacher’s aide at St. Joseph’s school and Schallert elementary. She was loved and admired by many in the community and beyond. She enjoyed doting over her two daughters even into their adulthood. She enjoyed talking to friends and family, gardening, and watching “Everybody Loves Raymond”, “Family Feud,” cooking videos, and “I Love Lucy”. She especially loved to cook for her family. She adored her faithful companion, 22-year-old chihuahua Aramis, and she spoiled him with homemade meals.
With her radiant smile and contagious laughter, she was a unifying strength and the family encourager. Nelda was an incredible gift to her family and will forever be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her and uniquely in those who expressed care for her in recent years.
Nelda loved to listen to Christian music and would sing while she cooked. She was known for her beauty and style. She never left the house without a matching outfit, full makeup, jewelry, and her signature perfume, Amarige by Givenchy. Nelda never met a stranger; she loved talking to everyone and boasting about her daughters and nieces and nephews. She was a woman of great faith, strong, and independent who will continue to be an inspiration to her daughters and all who knew her. She led a life of love and devotion to God, her family, and others over the course of her lifetime.
Mrs. Trevino is proceeded in death by her husband, Arnulfo Trevino; her parents, Eulalia and Manuel Ruiz; sisters, Elma Flores and Theresa Galindo; and brother, Rey Ruiz.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cynthia Trevino-Cabrera and Sandra Mae Trevino-Mendez, and two sons-in-law, Fernando and Raymond, who she loved like sons. Other survivors include sisters, Angelina Serna, Norma Acuna, and Melba Ruiz; brothers, Manuel Ruiz Jr (Rosie), Enrique Ruiz, (Carmen) and Ruben Ruiz (Terry); sisters-in law, Isabel Beltran and Isidra Garza; and brothers-in-law, Tiburcio Trevino (Adela) and Thomas Trevino (Lita). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting: but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:29-31
