Amando T. Cadena, 85 years of age, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in an Alice hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in San Diego, Texas, on March 1, 1939 to his parents, Fernando and Blanca Cadena. He attended school in San Diego where he met and later married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Zoila. Together they built a life living in Palito Blanco for over 40 years. He began his career with Nixon Construction and retired from Nabors Well Service after 40 years as a mechanic. Amando enjoyed spending time with his horses and being outdoors barbequing, singing, and spending time with his family. Amando was a loving husband to his wife of 62 years of marriage, a devoted and caring father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Blanca Cadena; his grandson, Daniel O. Cadena; two brothers, Arnoldo Cadena, Norberto “Beto” Cadena; two sisters, Emma ( † John) Newby, Emilia ( † Lloyd) Grau.
Amando is survived by his wife of 62 years of marriage, Zoila V. Cadena of Palito Blanco, Texas; three sons, Oraldo (Emilia) Cadena of Alice, Texas; Amando (JoAnn) Cadena Jr. of Calallen, Texas; Adan (Cathy) Cadena of Ben Bolt, Texas; brother, Noe (Juanita) Cadena; five sisters, Amada ( † Raul) Lopez, Lydia († Ernesto) Gonzalez, Estella († Jesus) Guzman, Ester (†Ernesto) Lopez, and Tina († Claudio) Hinojosa; two sister-in-law, Gloria Cadena and San Juana Cadena; six grandchildren, Criselda, Lisa, Amanda, Sara, Mateo, Andres; five great grandchildren, Nathan, Nicolas, Mia, Judas, Ezekiel; Special nephew, Reynaldo Ramirez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery 2 in San Diego, Texas.
