Alicia “Licha” Angelina Gonzalez, 78, went to be with the Lord with her family at her bedside on Sunday, April 21, 2024. She was born in Freer, Texas on March 16, 1946 to her parents, Agapito and Maria Alaniz. Licha was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister an aunt who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She dearly loved her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a very hard worker, self taught handy woman, carpenter, plumber, welder, stern babysitter and softball coach. Licha loved animals especially dogs and cats, enjoyed watching baseball and western movies.
Licha was preceded in death by her children’s father, Isauro “Pi” Gonzalez; her son, Alfredo “Bubba” Gonzalez; granddaughter, Alana Olivia Gonzalez; her parents, Agapito and Maria Alaniz; her brothers, Agapito Alaniz Jr., and Arnoldo Alaniz; sisters, Alma (Fidencio) Carrillo and Arminda (Andres) Villarreal.
Licha is survived by her daughters, Diana (Daniel) Adami of Freer, Texas; Cora G. (Wally) Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Aida S. († Eulogio) Espinoza of Freer, Texas; Anna (Ricardo “Rico”) Garza of Ben Bolt, Texas; grandchildren, Marcus Villarreal, Marci (Armando) Almendarez, Armando Gonzalez, Elisa Gonzalez, Colby Gonzalez, Isauro Manuel Gonzalez, Natasha Gonzalez, and Latario Gonzalez; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, and Madison Villarreal, Aidan, Lukas and Lylah Almendarez, Dallas and Maverick Rostro; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Freer, Texas. Interment will follow at Hall Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
