Amelia V. Garcia, 81 years of age, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, January 28, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family at her bedside. She was born in La Rosita, Texas on August 21, 1940 to her parents, Cecilio and Barbarita Garcia. She was an active member of St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society. She was formerly employed as a teacher aide for San Diego ISD, Duval County Welfare Department, Texas Department of Human Resources and as a liaison for several home heath agencies. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, attending school functions and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded by her parents, Cecilio and Barbarita Valerio, two brothers, Armando Ramos and David Valerio; a sister, Alicia Ruiz; sister -in-law, Gloria Valerio; brother-in-law, Juan Lichtenberger; two nieces, Dora Acevedo and Cindy Benavides.
Amelia is survived by her three sons, Reymundo (Lamar) Garcia Jr., Ricardo (Gracie) Garcia, Rolando (Elma) Garcia all of San Diego, Texas; four daughters, Alicia Garcia of San Diego, Texas; Adriana (Omar) Perez of Pearland, Texas; Azalia Garcia, Alma Garcia both of San Diego, Texas; brother, Gilberto (Judy) Valerio of La Rosita, Texas; sister, Zulema Lichtenberger of Seven Sister, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we will be following all CDC and Government mandates and ask each guest to do so as well. We ask everyone to follow social distancing and wear masks inside the funeral home and church.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Rosary at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Valerio Cemetery in La Rosita Community, Texas.
