ANNA GONZALEZ Alice, Texas – Anna Gonzalez, 91, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in a local nursing home surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness. Anna was born September 18, 1931, to Benjamin Rosales and Beatriz Hinojosa in Skidmore-Tynan, Texas. Anna “Ann” was a founding member of First Mexican Baptist Church (Immanuel Baptist Church on Cameron) and a longtime member of West Main Baptist Church. She loved to eat take out, especially Chinese food. “Ann” was a social butterfly and will be deeply missed by many. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Meridian Nursing Home and all their staff. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband of 17 years: Mateo Gomez Jr., and her 2nd husband Victor M. Gonzalez. Survivors: six children: Irene (George) Franco of Alice, Israel (Noemi) Gomez of Ben Bolt, Texas, Mateo “Cat” (Annette) Gomez III of Mathis, Texas, Albert (Debra) Gomez of McAllen, Texas, Beatrice “Bea” (Darryll) Campbell of Alice, , and Elsa (Louis Edwin) Escamilla of Corpus Christi, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Diego Rosales of Austin, Texas and Benjamin Rosales Jr. of Austin; two sisters: Esther Rosales of Austin, and Rosa Olivares of Skidmore, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Israel F. Gomez, Albert D. Gomez, Jose “Trae” Rubio, Benjamin C. Gomez, Nick Yarbarough, Erick Franco, David Jason Franco, and Logan Benavides. A visitation began on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at West Main Baptist Church with a funeral beginning at 9:30 a.m. at West Main Baptist Church. A burial followed in Casa Blanca Cemetery in Sandia, Texas. Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home Alice.
