Alice – Callie Kathryn Blankinship, age 103, passed away peacefully in her home in Alice, Texas on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was born on January 1, 1919, in Yoakum, Texas to T.A. Applewhite and Mary Russell Applewhite.
Callie spent her life in the service of others as a public-school homemaking teacher for 24 years. She was a proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Tau Chapter, Alice Music Club, Beta Signa Phi Sorority, and Women on a Missions Club.
Callie was a loving, caring, special person and she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Earl Blankinship; and six siblings.
Callie is survived by her loving children, Etta Kay (Joe)Briones of Corpus Christi, Texas and Jim Blankinship of Alice, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Briones of Corpus Christi, Texas and Dereck Briones of Austin, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at First Baptist Church officiated by Deacon Eddie Bickham. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
