DOMITILA OCHOA VALDEZ “TILA” Alice, Texas – Domitila Ochoa Valdez “Tila”, 89, passed away April 12, 2023, in Alice, Texas. She was born May 12, 1933, in Mexico to Vicente Ochoa and Viviana Perez Ochoa. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she volunteered as a Guadalupana and taught catechism for many years. Tila also worked as a cook for 12 years for the Jim Wells County Jail. She loved watching her novelas, attending bingos and was a caller for the loteria every Friday night. She had a love for plants. Anything she planted would bloom beautifully. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vicente Ochoa and Viviana Perez Ochoa; husband, Eliseo Q. Valdez; three daughters, Viviana Benavides, Petra Sifuentes, and Enedina Valdez; grandchildren, Baby Ray Ruiz, Eli Benavidez, and Juan Antonio Sifuentes III. Tila is survived by her children, Mary D. Hughes of Schertz, Eliseo O. Valdez Jr. (Evangelina Cantu) of Alice, and Candelario G. Valdez (Martha) of Alice; sister, Marina Gonzalez of Houston; grandchildren, Yvonne L. Molina (Jeff) of Houston, Howard Hughes of Schertz, Nicole Elguezabal (Porfirio) of San Antonio, Velinda Isela Anaya (Rafael) of San Antonio, Vanessa Iselda Guerra (+Rene) of San Antonio, Veronica Isavel West (James) of San Antonio, Candelario Valdez (Erica) of Midland, Monica Rosales (Tyler) of San Antonio, Marissa Gonzalez (Trey) of Bishop, Crystel Longoria (Rudy) of Alice, Andres Sifuentes of Alice, Christopher Valdez (Monica) of San Antonio, and Marco Eloy Sifuentes (Vivian) of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Joe Cesar Serrato, Erica Vanessa Medina, Nickoles Hughes, Angelina Elguezabal, Hunter Elguezabal, Olivia Hughes, Kylie Hughes, Gael Enrique Anaya, Maribel Anaya, Gavin Renee Fresco, Luke West, Jazzy Valdez, Kaydence Valdez, Mileah Valdez, Tyler Rosales, Jacob Rosales, Miliana Gonzalez, Domingo Gonzalez, Mila Gonzalez, Erika Ann Pelayo, Alexis Sifuentes, Jacob Valdez, Mia Valdez, Lilly Sifuentes, and Eliana Sifuentes; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held Monday, April 17, 2023, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at New Collins Cemetery.
