Dorothy Herschap Larson
Alice – Dorothy Herschap Larson, 88, passed away in Alice, TX, on October 23, 2021. She was born at Midway Station, on December 11, 1932 to John August Herschap and Cecilia Freida (Rokohl) Herschap.
Dorothy was an alumni of Orange Grove High School’s Class of 1950. During her high school years she played baseball and volleyball. Additionally, she was active with the FHA, pep squad, and annual staff.
After graduating, Dorothy moved to San Antonio where she attended business school. It was while in San Antonio where she met and married the father of her two children. During her marriage she lived at multiple duty stations, and traveled extensively while living in Germany, where she created many fond memories.
During the early 1970’s she returned home to Orange Grove where she raised her two daughters. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Counsel and Care Committee. She was also an active member of the Orange Grove VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
She will forever be an American Patriot, an Orange Grove Bulldog, and in love with her Orange Grove community. Her pride and joy was her close and extended family. Her anticipation always grew months before family reunions. She loved visiting with her relatives, telling stories, making new memories, and the contagious laughter at her shenanigans.
Dorothy was dearly loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Wostal; and brother, John Allen Herschap.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeri Coker and Jeanne (Doug) Bridges both of Orange Grove; grandchildren, John Coker of Corpus Christi, David Skrobarczyk of Jersey Village, Connor Bridges of Austin, Brandon (Jennifer) Bridges of Orange Grove, and Brian (Julianne) Bridges of Corpus Christi; great-grandchildren, Makayla Coker, Devary Coker, Blake Coker, Fallon Bridges, Ty Bridges, Lane Bridges, and Kylie Bridges; sister, Peggy (Bill) Sills of Edmond, OK; brother-in-law, Sam Wostal of New Braunfels; and numerous nieces, nephews and family friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove, to be officiated by Pastor Phil Allman. Burial will follow at Sons of Herman Cemetery in Orange Grove.
