SAN DIEGO – In honor of fallen correctional officer throughout the nation, a memorial ceremony was held at the Glossbrenner Unit. Every year, the prison holds a memorial service to honor correctional officers and prison staff lost on the line of duty.
“TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice) remembers our fallen officers,” said Sgt. Daniel Delgado.
Warden Kelly Metz welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the ceremony. The men and women who take the responsibility to protect the civilian population from convicted criminals can be a taunting task.
“The missing officer table (is) set for one. The empty plate represents the correctional officers who have given their lives in the line of duty defending society while maintaining incarcerated felons,” said Emily Valdez.
Glossbrenner Unit Staff honored were Reynoldo Rodriguez, James Nwosu, Ramon Alvarado, Jesse Zuniga, Karon D. Solis, Lauro Ramos, Rolando Garza, Ronald Hall, Stanley Blake, James Brown, Darlene Turner, Terry Hall, Phyllis Lee, Paul Winkelmann, Dori Abitua, Terry Kreider and Alan “Blackie” Taylor.
