In the early morning hours of December 23, 2021 Inez Gorbet Klatt, 95, made her journey to join her parents Ellis and May Gorbet, her three brothers, her sister and her oldest child Ronald. She leaves behind her loving husband of 74 years, Gerrett A. Klatt, Jr. their daughter, Lana (Steve Nielson) and son Stephen, granddaughter, Shelley Coleman and great grandchildren, Jordan Holsonback and Lauren Coleman as well as her Ione surviving sibling, Margaret Sandell and a host of extended family and lifelong friends.
She was born to dairy farmers near Sandia TX where she made her debut as a covergirl on Progressive Farmer magazine in a watermelon at the age of six months. She grew up in Sandia and attended school in Mathis until WWII forced her family to relocate to Pleasanton, TX where she completed her senior year in 1943 graduating from Pleasanton High School.
She returned to South Texas and fell right into her number one role in life as a farmer and rancher. Inez had many jobs throughout the years in banking, bookkeeping, and as an owner of a health store, but her legacy is in San Patricio County farming and ranching.
Inez volunteered and helped wherever she could spending her lifetime actively serving her church, civic organizations, children’s and granddaughter’s activities. She was devoted to helping ailing and elderly family members as well as her friends and neighbors. She was the person you could count on.
In keeping with her Catholic Faith, we ask you to join us for the praying of The Holy Rosary on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary. The celebration of her life at Holy Mass will be on Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. Elizabeth of Hungry Church in Alice, TX at 11:00 AM and Inez will be laid to rest in Sandia Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
We request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Alzheimer and Dementia research.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
Condolences for the family may be offered at www.holmgreenmortuaryinc.com and shared via Holmgreen Mortuary Facebook.
