Jacob Jacobo Gelista
Alice – Jacob Jacobo Gelista, age 68, passed away September 30, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born November 1, 1952, in Alice, Texas to Ascencion and Lorenza Gelista. Jacob retired from the City of Alice Water Department after working there as a field supervisor/foreman for 26 years. He previously worked for the Alice Independent School District for numerous years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching their baseball games, being around his friends, and barbecuing. Jacob had a joking character who enjoyed making people laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asencion and Lorenza Gelista; brothers, Joe Gelista, Reymundo Gelista, Isabelo “Chavelo” Gelista, and Juan Gelista; sister, Matilde Garza.
He is survived by his companion, Fabiola Sanchez of Alice; son, Jason Gelista (Celeste) of Alice; daughter, Laura Gelista of Alice; brother, Pablo Gelista of Alice; sisters, Delia Cabrera of Corpus Christi, Anita Bernal (Arturo) of Lewisville; grandchildren, Jason Gelista (Vianca), Daniel Gelista (Destiny), and Isaiah Gelista; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Roberson Collins Cemetery.
