Javier “Driver” Laso Sr., 54 years of age, was called home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born in Alice, Texas on November 8, 1968 to his parents, Natividad San Juan and Manuela (Nunez) Laso. Javier was a 1988 graduate of San Diego High School. He was formerly employed in the oil field industry and was a truck driver for over 30 years. Javier’s passion was driving his 18 wheeler truck, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed hunting, being a rancher and farmer, collecting guns, wrangling rattlesnakes and especially spending time barbequing with his only granddaughter, Emelina Inez Laso and his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Natividad San Juan Laso Sr.; grandson, Randy Salinas Jr.; two brothers, Natividad San Juan Laso Jr. and Luis Noe Laso Sr.; paternal grandparents, Pablo and Santos P. Laso Sr.; maternal grandparents, Francisco and Emeteria S. Nunez; his-in-laws; Santos Jr and Israelda Perez.
Javier is survived by his wife of 34 years of marriage, Sandie Laso; his son, Javier (Gloria) Laso Jr. of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Kassandra M. Laso (Randy Salinas) and Melayna D. Laso both of Alice, Texas; his mother, Manuela Nunez Laso of San Diego, Texas; four sisters, Sylvia Lazo (Eden Vela), Elma L. (Arnoldo) Guerra, Edna Laso and Irene Elizondo; one granddaughter, Emelina Inez Laso; his-in-laws, Thelma (Hector) Gonzalez, Ruben (Patsy) Perez, and Santos “Duffy” (Joann) Perez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
