Jose Alejandro Alvarez
Alice – Jose Alejandro Alvarez entered to eternal rest on September 19, 2021. He was born February 22, 1947, in Rivera Texas to Alejandro and Virginia Alvarez. He moved to Rio Grande Valley in 1974 to start A&D Construction/Remodeling Co. with his business partner, cousin Santos De La Rosa. He took pride in building hundreds of custom-built homes for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing softball in several city leagues and was an avid golfer and of other sports he enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to sport events. Jose also enjoyed traveling, which took him to most of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. He loved the outdoors, family, friends and living his life to the fullest. Jose “Wito” Alvarez was not only a great man in stature but in all that he did and shared with his family and friends. He was lovingly known as “Pops” to those who knew and loved him. He lived until the Lord called him home. His love, wisdom, guidance, and kindness will be sorely missed by many. “May he rest in peace until we meet again.”
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia Robertson Alvarez; a daughter Deanna Alvarez, and a son Alexander Alvarez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Belinda Sandoval Alvarez, his children/stepchildren Lisa Tellez, Marianne Labell (Candelario Rivera), Jack Edward Labell (Veronica Labell) Deanna Labell, Kimberly Garcia, Kristofer Garcia (Kari Garcia) and Marc Garcia (Nicole Garcia), 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and his sister, Molly Garza.
Family will receive relatives and friends at 9:30 A.M. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church of Alice, Texas on Saturday, October 9, 2021. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 with inurnment of cremains to follow at the Alice Cemetery.
