Jose Jesus Muniz, 87 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Alice, Texas. Jose was retired from the Alice Independent School District where he devoted many years. After retirement, he spent countless hours playing his guitar and accordion, making music with the love of his life. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Herlinda Rodriguez Muniz,and his daughter, Norma Muniz. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many and is now at rest. He will be sadly missed by all that loved him dearly.
He is survived by his daughter Maria (Juan) Sanchez of Houston, TX; 8 grandchildren, Veronica Munoz, Estevan Ramirez, Jacob Muniz, Adriena Muniz, Bryiana Muniz, Brenda Sanchez, Nikki Sanchez, Juan Sanchez III; and, a brother, Jose Muniz of California; 11 great grandchildren, several cousins, nephews and nieces, and many other extended family members and friends.
At his request, immediate family members will gather for a private celebration of his life on September 7, 2024. The family will accept flowers for Jose at Roberson Funeral Home in Alice, Texas on September 6, 2024.
