Luis Reyes Arredondo
Alice – Luis Reyes Arredondo 89 years of age entered eternal rest on February 25, 2022, at his home with his loving family by his bedside. He was born on August 25, 1932, in Alice, Texas to Eduardo and Nasaria R. Arredondo. Luis was an auto mechanic for many years. Luis worked for the different Chevrolet dealerships in Alice for 42 years, starting with Bowman Chevrolet washing cars, up to Bradford Chevrolet as a mechanic. He talked highly of the Bradfords and would always mention how they were so good to him. He had retired but went back to work for Alice Chevrolet as a porter for a short period of time. Luis served our country as an Army Veteran. Luis enjoyed spending time with his family and was always there for his wife, Raquel and daughters; whether it was taking them to the doctor, picking them up to and from school/work or even if one of them had a flat. They could always count on him. Many people will remember Luis for his big friendly smile and always trying to make people laugh. Luis enjoyed having his daughters and their families together and spending time with his three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Yolanda Espinoza, Emma Davila, and Rene Arredondo.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years of marriage Raquel C. Arredondo of Alice, Texas; his five daughters, Norma A. (Juan S.) Padron of Beeville, Texas, Nora A. (Lorenzo) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas, Nelda A. (George) Aguilar of Corpus Christi, Texas, Irma A. (Erasmo Jr.) Lopez of Fannin, Texas, and Laura A. (Juan) Benavides III of Harlingen, Texas; two sisters, Alicia Trejo and Delmira Molina both of Alice, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashely Marie (Brandon Reynolds) Arredondo of Washington, Alyssa Nicole Lopez, and A.J. Lopez; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander Reynolds and Illyria Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends and relatives at 5:00 P.M. Friday March 4, 2022, at Rosas Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday March 5, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the New Collins Cemetery with military honors by the United Veteran Burial association.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Juan S. Padron, George Aguilar, Erasmo Lopez, Jr., Juan Benavides, III, A.J. Lopez, and Vicente Saenz.
