MARY ANN “NANA” QUILLIN Mary Ann “Nana” Quillin gained her heavenly wings on Friday, March 22, 2024. Mary was born on September 6, 1931, in Gonzales, Texas. Her parents were Paul and Emilia “Millie” Matocha. The family moved to Agua Dulce, Texas when she was 10 and she graduated from Agua Dulce High School in 1949. She met and married the love of her life Andrew “Andy” Quillin on September 2, 1950. They were married 63 years. They had five children, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Mary was a fulltime homemaker and she loved to cook, bake, sew, crochet, and paint. She was a talented artist and loved to paint landscapes and flowers. She enjoyed canning vegetables from the large gardens with her husband. She also loved to travel and read. She was a member of St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society where she was a prayer warrior. She was a Cub Scout Leader, worked city, county, and school elections; she was on the Citizens of Progress Board, a certified EMS personnel for the AD Volunteer Fire Department and sold Watkins Products. She was also a Room Mother for all of her children, PTA Leader and rode the school bus to many of their events. Her joy was keeping her grandchildren for days at a time; entertaining and cooking for them. She was a great hostess for the family holidays and celebrations preparing large meals and playing family games. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy Quillin; son, Jeff Quillin; son-in-law, Dickie Yaklin; sister-in-law, Inez Hearn, brother-in-law, Walter Baxter; and grandsons, Beau Sanford and Brice Gonzalez. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Deborah (Terry) Pearson of Alice, Texas, Tim (Ellie) Quillin of Corpus Christi, Texas, Catherine Yaklin of Kingsville, Texas, and Darla Quillin of Bentonville, Texas; daughter-in-law, Shelley Quillin of Wimberly, Texas; sister, Pauline Baxter of Portland, Texas; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Cheryl) Quillin of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Cory Winfrey, Heather (Josh) Rinehart, Hillary (Bo) Scheller, Justin (Leigh) Yaklin, Jeffery (Aaron) Quillin, Andrew Quillin, Kendell (Julez) Ward, Adrian Gonzalez, Derrick Gonzalez, and Vanessa (Jamie) Rocha; great-grandchildren, LiAndra Winfrey, Devin Winfrey, Ethan Benavides, Mia Winfrey, Ethan Rinehart, Caleb Heck, Taylor Quillin, Cooper Quillin, Hannah Yaklin, Sophie Yaklin, Ayla Rocha, Nikolai Rocha, Jaycee Gonzalez, Harper Moehle, Riley Moehle, Luke Edwards, McKenzie Edwards, Treighshon Pearson, and Taytom Bell; and great-great grandson, Julian Winfrey. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.
