ALICE – Michael Andrew Lopez, 39, of Alice passed away on April 18, 2022. He was born in Alice on February 25, 1983. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, friend, and godfather. Michael enjoyed reading, watching documentaries, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and his nephews at their sporting events. As the eldest of all his siblings, Michael was a protector in nature of those he loved. He was a kind soul to all he met and was loved by so many. Michael was an active member of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice and participated in multiple lay retreats including ACTS, Cursillo, and F.L.A.M.E.
Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Aparicio C., and Rebecca A. Lopez; an infant daughter, Madeline Anne Lopez.
He is survived by his mother, Melva L. Garcia (Jose) of Alice; father, Fidel Garza (Lori) of St. Joseph, Missouri; sisters, Jennifer M. Garcia (Homer) of Alice, Texas, Zenaida Rivera (Juan) of McAllen, Texas, Raquel Garcia (Dan) of Aurora, Illinois, Lani Summer Barnfield of St. Joseph, Missouri; brothers, Kristopher D. Ortiz of Alice, Juan Daniel“JD”(Christina Ramirez) Ortiz of Selma, Texas, Jose “Joey” Garcia Jr. (Alyssa) of Alice, Texas, Robert Christopher (LaTasha) Garza of St. Joseph, Missouri, Romeo Adrian (Tyson) Huff-Garza of St. Joseph, Missouri, Matthew Ryan Garza of St. Joseph, Missouri; special great-aunt and godmother, Adelina “Lina” Torres-Reyna of Alice, another special great-aunt, Adriana C. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Rosas Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel. Funeral mass will follow and be celebrated at 3:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice. Services will conclude at the Church after the mass. A reception will be held at the parish hall of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Kristopher D Ortiz, Homer Garcia, Rick Rios, Robert Christopher Garza, Romeo Adrian Huff-Garza, Matthew Ryan Garza, Marcus Cole Garza, and two Honorary, Juan Daniel “JD” Ortiz and his godson/nephew Jake Ryan Villarreal.
