Nicolas Ybañez, affectionately known as “Niko” and “Puppy Dog”, passed away May 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 3, 1948 in George West, Texas to Francisco and Antonia Ybañez. He had a love for welding, hunting, gardening and watching you tube videos. Nicolas also was a veteran of the military where he served in the United States Army. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Antonia Ybanez.
Nicolas is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janie G. Ybañez of Robstown; three daughters, Raquel Ybarra (Adrian) of Alice, Angelica Garza (Jose) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Laura Ybañez of Robstown; his father, Francisco Ybañez of Alice; siblings, Mary Lou Garcia (Raul) of Alice, Anita Cardona (Mike) of Portland, and Norma Alvarez of Alice; four grandchildren, Michael Galvan (Marina), Arron Ybarra, Gabriella Garza, and Rebecca Garza; one great-grandchild, Makayla Galvan; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Rosas Funeral Home beginning at 6 p.m. with a memorial rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Family and friends will gather for a memorial graveside service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Michael Galvan, Arron Ybarra, Mark Cardona, James Cardona, Orlando Guerra, and Arnold Guerra. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabriella Garza and Rebecca Garza.
