Norma L. Gomez and Rachael Marie Martinez
Orange Grove – Rachael Marie Martinez, 42, passed away on September 10, 2021. She was born on November 15, 1978, in Alice, Texas to Albert and Norma Gomez.
Norma L. Gomez, age 60, passed away on September 18, 2021 and reunited with her beloved daughter, Rachael. She was born on March 17, 1961, in Mathis, Texas.
Rachael was known to be the life of the party. She had a carefree spirit that enjoyed life to the fullest. She also enjoyed doing cosmetics on people and loved doing hair. Rachael lived for her children and loved them unconditionally. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Rachael was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Herlinda Cenaida Cavazos, grandparents, Salvador and Mary Gomez; aunt, Olivia Aguilar; sister-in-law Heather Gomez; and cousin, Thomas Aguilar.
Norma worked in the medical field as a home health LVN nurse. Norma was known to many for her love of the holidays and cooking for her grandchildren. She was always ready to clean and decorate the house for holidays, especially Christmas. She enjoyed shopping online and receiving her packages, cooking and sewing. She also enjoyed talking on the phone catching up with family members and friends. She was also known as a go getter, easy going, always managed to put a smile on your face, and had a heart of gold.
Norma was preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her, Maria Herlinda Rios Cavazos Serna; her mother, Cenaida Cavazos; her mother-in law and father-in-law, Mary and Salvador Gomez; cousins, Thomas Aguilar; cousin, Olivia Aguilar; and daughter-in-law Heather Gomez.
Visitation for both Rachael and Norma will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021, from 11:30 am till 1 pm at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 1 pm. Funeral Mass will follow at 3 pm at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas. Services for Rachael will conclude after the mass. Burial to follow for Norma at Orange Grove Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Rachael will be Richard Ornelas, Zachary Bozarth, Michael Ornelas, Sonny Lopez Jr., Jonathan Lopez and Austin Montgomery.
Pallbearers for Norma will be Adrian Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, Jeremy Gomez, Joseph Gomez, Albert Gomez Jr., and Bo Bartlett.
