Natividad “Natie” Salinas
Benavides – Natividad “Natie” Salinas, 67 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in an Alice hospital after a sudden illness. She was born in San Diego, Texas on August 14, 1954 to her parents, Estanislado and Beatriz Contreras Sr. She was a active member of Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was previously employed with NSCL for several years and was owner and operator of Christie’s Creations Flower Shop in Benavides and was also a salesperson for Tupperware and Avon. She enjoyed spending time at the maquinitas, playing Bingo, fishing, and baking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Humberto Salinas; her parents, Estanislado and Beatriz Contreras Sr.; three brothers, Seferino “Tartana” Contreras, Silverio “Chivo” Contreras Sr., Homero Contreras Sr.; one sister, Porfiria C. Rodriguez.
Natie is survived by her son, Bobby Joe Salinas ( Norma) of Benavides, Texas; her daughter, Jo Ann Salinas of Benavides, Texas; four grandchildren, Christie Ann Smith, Lori Ann Martinez, Angelica Isabel Salinas, Joseph Alexander Salinas; her siblings, Juan (Eloisa “Kati”) Casso, Estanislado (Eva) Contreras Jr. Esteban (Hilda) Contreras, Petra Contreras Martinez, Adrian Contreras Sr., Juan (Marta) Contreras, and Jerry (Nora) Contreras Sr.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will be following all CDC and Government mandates and ask each guest to do so as well. We ask everyone to follow social distancing and wear masks inside the funeral home and church.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
