Rosa R. Escamilla
Alice – Rosa R. Escamilla, age 91, passed away September 7, 2021 in Alice, Texas. She was born February 15, 1930 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Aniceto and Guadalupe Escamilla. Rosa was a devout catholic who read the bible and prayed the rosary daily. She also enjoyed her quiet time and reading magazines which the Woman’s World Magazine was one of them. She enjoyed making pan de polvo and tamales. She was known to many for her caring character and always giving of herself. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aniceto and Guadalupe Escamilla; brothers, Jose Escamilla and Demetrio Escamilla; and sister, Rachel Munoz.
She is survived by one brother, Antonio Escamilla (Frances) of Alice; three sisters, Maria E. Gonzalez (Teodoro) of Alice, Maggie Escamilla of Alice, and Paula Canales (Adan) of Alice; one niece raised as a sister, Esmeralda Garcia (Israel) of Ben Bolt; a special nephew who cared for her and was raised as a son, James Escamilla of Alice; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 9 am till 9:30 am at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. A holy rosary will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by a mass at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Roberson Collins Cemetery.
The family ask that you keep them in your prayers throughout the services and their time of grief and to stay safe and healthy. For your safety and their safety, the ask that you please wear your mask and try to follow social distancing.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Sanchez, Albert Canales, Bryan Sanchez, Richard Almeguer, Joe Escamilla Jr. and Israel Garcia Jr.
