Ofelia Sepulveda Castañon
San Diego – Ofelia Sepulveda Castañon, a lifelong resident of San Diego, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 12, 2021. She was 92 years old.
Ofelia was reunited, in Heaven, with her husband, Jesus “Jesse” Castañon,daughter Nelda C. Gonzalez,her parents Jose and Elvira Garcia Sepulveda and five siblings.
Ofelia is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughters Norma Jean Rivera and Nora (Roel) Saenz, her 6 grandchildren Cathy (Justin) Kerr, Nicole Martinez, David Rivera, Phillip (Whitney) Saenz, Roy (Denise) Saenz, Lenee Saenz, her 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Ofelia was born and proudly raised in Robstown, Texas. When she married, she joined her husband in running several successful restaurants in their lifetime: San Diego Cafe, JC Windmill Restaurant, and The Palace Grill. Ofelia was also a strong Catholic and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and a distinguished chartered member of the San Diego 8931 Auxiliary and also a member of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Ofelia’s life was filled with love and kindness. She had a big heart and was very giving. She worked hard, and enjoyed retirement telling stories, dancing at celebrations, traveling with family, laughing and making others laugh, and being entertained by her great and great-great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 5:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes – San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P.
