PAULA ESPINOZA Paula Espinoza, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 13, 2023 in Corpus Christi. She was born in the small community of Dinero, Texas to the late Aparicio and Teresa Gonzalez. Later, her family moved to Orange Grove, Texas where she met and married Francisco (Frank) Espinoza. There they started their family and later moved to Alice in late 1969, where they established family roots. Mostly known by her family and friends as “Paulita,” she was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a proud member of Sacred Heart and later St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. There she worshiped her Lord Jesus Christ and served her community and members of her parish. A true servant, she loved helping others and was best known for her constant smile and humble hospitable spirit. Paulita was an excellent homemaker and loved tidiness. She was also known as an amazing cook, baker and almost always greeted her guests with a refreshing glass of iced tea or a baked treat made with love. She loved sewing, gardening, and keeping a well-manicured lawn with lots of plants and flowerbeds. But above all, the joy of her life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved “Tia” to many members of her extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank, and her daughter Teresa (Terrie) Garcia. She is survived by her five children: Lupita Marez of Round Rock, Texas, Eloisa De Leon (Armando), Aurora Saavedra (Manuel), Reynaldo Espinoza (Eva), of Corpus Christi, and Frank Espinoza (Irma) of Harlingen, Texas. In addition, the Lord blessed her with 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The members of her family would like to recognize and thank the staff and administration of Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she was loved and cared for throughout the last years of her life. Visitation began at 5 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home-Corpus Christi. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church located at 200 S. Metz in Orange Grove, Texas.
