Petra R. Flores, 95, passed away peacefully in the am of April 12, 2022, as she listened to the morning mass at the San Juan Nursing Home, San Juan Texas. She was born January 2, 1927 in Waco, Texas to Santiago Rivera and Dionicia Curiel. Petra was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was also a devoted follower of Christ and would pray devoutly for her family’s intentions. She was patient, kind, and loving as she made each one of us feel special.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mauricio “Morris” Flores, her parents Santiago and Dionicia Rivera, her stepmother Maria Rivera, her siblings Jose (Isabel) Rivera, Gume and Santiago Rivera, Juana (Jose) Guzman, and Manuela (Jesus) Rojas.
She is survived by her brothers Beto (Maria Elena) Rivera and Frank Rivera, her sisters-in-law Baudelia and Marina Rivera. She is also survived by her children: Maurice (Josie) Flores, Arthur (Peggy) Flores, Mary (Danny) Castillo, and Ray (Anna) Flores.
Her grandchildren include Michelle (David) Carpini, Melissa Ann Aguilar, Melanie (Chris) Hernandez, Ashlie (Marty) Resendez, Justin (Jen) Mink, Kelly Mink, Daniel Castillo, Maurice (Kelly) Flores, Ray Jr (Monica) Flores, and Matthew (Meghan) Flores. She has 21 great grandchildren and 2 greatgreat grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews of which she holds a special place in their hearts. Her life took her to Banquete and Corpus Christi, Texas, Monterrey Mexico, and settling in Palito Blanco Texas where she and Morris raised their children on the Blue-Ribbon Ranch. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Altar Society in Ben Bolt, as well as, the St Joseph’s Mission Church Altar Society in Palito Blanco. She supported her children through their interests in 4-H, Sports, and eventually in the raising of their own children as well. Morris being an abet fisherman and sportsman she could fry fish, roast doves, make venison tamales, and cook rabbit. She also loved her yard and annual vegetable garden throughout the years. She loved life and lived it to the fullest always respecting the day the Lord has made.
Public visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, at 9:00 A.M. at Rosas Funeral Home. Funeral procession will depart the funeral Home at 9:30 to St Joseph Catholic Church Mission of Palito Blanco, Texas and a Rosary will be recited at 10: 15 A.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. also at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Mission Church of Palito Blanco, Texas. Burial will follow at the Barrera Cemetery.
