Alice – Our hero Ricardo Gonzalez Jr., of Alice, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family, holding his hands and at his side. On January 24, 2022, he went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 68. He was born to Ricardo T. and Fidela R. Gonzales on July 29, 1953.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delma M. Gonzalez and loving mother, Fidela R. Gonzales.
Ricardo was strong in his unmatched faith until the very end. He fought for so long to be here with us, and God saw how tired he was and decided it was time to call him home. No more pain, no more suffering.
Ricardo worked for Brown and Root for numerous years. He was a man of faith and a devout Catholic. He was a loving husband to his wife, Delma M. Gonzalez and took care of her until the end of her short battle with cancer.
Ricardo was the best dad to his four children, the best TaTa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. We always felt his love.
Our dad was everyone’s “go to” person for advice on life and problems. He had the biggest most gentle heart. The strong silent type, a man of few words, unless we needed advice. He knew just what to say.
TaTa always had candy in his pockets for his grandchildren Michael and Carolina. If they saw dad they waited knowing he had candy for them.
TaTa attended grandparents’ day with his grandchildren, school plays, plenty of turkey dinners.
We will treasure these memories.
Ricardo took pride in watching his sons play high school football and baseball. He himself played softball even after becoming a father. We all got in the car and drove to the field to watch him play.
He loved Bar B Ques with family, just sitting outside with his dad listening to Spanish music and dancing with our beautiful mama in our gazebo with music blasting. He took pride in raising his fighting roosters and traveling to Louisiana Derbys, one of his favorite past times.
Ricardo also proudly served his country. He will always be our hero.
Life is a passage we all go through to get to the Kingdom of our Lord. Until we meet again daddy you will be greatly missed by many.
A sincere thank you to Dr. Timothy Van Frank who for the last 23 years was his doctor, Bay Are Hospital Corpus Christi and Premier of Alice, Texas, who went above and beyond for our dad during his short time there. We are truly indebted to the entire staff. Words cannot express the compassion and dedication they showed him. River City hospice, it takes a special kind of person to do this daily, a medical professional but yet the heart and compassion to make our family feel at ease during the darkest hours. Thank you, Jennifer Espinoza Windsor Nurisng & Rehab of Corpus Christi. Thank you as well for taking care of our dad.
