Richard R. Garza, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023 in Alice, Texas after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 12, 1940 in Alice, Texas to Manuel Garza, Sr. and Paz Rodrigues Garza.
He spent 47 years in the oilfield, working for Pride Oil Well Service for the majority of his career. He loved gardening, being outdoors, his cats and watching baseball, his favorite team being the Texas Rangers.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Paz Garza, Sr.; beloved wife of 62 years, Dolores A. Garza; mother-in-law, Carmen F. Aguilar; grandson, Ricardo S. Garza III; siblings, Adan Garza, Valdemar Garza, Manuel Garza, Jr., Antonio Garza, Benito Segura, Rito Segura, Isabel Trevino, Consuelo Escochea, Anita Saldivar, Paula Gutierrez, Eva Garza and Beatriz Benavides.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Danette (Tommy) Molina of Alice, Tx; son, Ricardo (Evangelina) Garza, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Tx; granddaughters, Nicole (Adam) Flores of New Braunfels, Tx and Alyssa (Ryan Hottle) Rodriguez of San Antonio, Tx; grandsons, Nathan L. Rangel (Brenda) and Joshua A. Hernandez; great grandchildren, Adam Flores III, Mila Rose Hottle, Danica Love Flores, Ryan Hottle, Jr. and Aidan B. Garza; brother, Norberto Segura; brother-in-law Vicente Aguilar, Jr (Molly) of Corpus Christi, Tx; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a Chapel Service to follow at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St, Alice, Texas 78332. Burial will follow at Roberson-Collins Cemetery.
