ROBERTO RIVERA Roberto Rivera peacefully entered eternal rest on February 17, 2024, in Florida at the age of 82. Born on May 25, 1941, in Orange Grove, Texas, to Juan Chapa Rivera and Regina Herrera, Roberto’s legacy extends far beyond his birthplace. He proudly served in the United States Army as a decorated pilot in the Vietnam theater before transitioning to become a Federal public servant with the General Accounting Office (GAO). Roberto was known for his love of barbecuing, strumming his guitar, and his unwavering work ethic as an attorney in Florida for many years. His dedication to his country, family, and community will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Chapa Rivera and Regina Herrera Camacho, as well as siblings Domingo Rivera, Salome Gonzales, Manuela Ramirez, Johnny Rivera, and Dora Garza. Roberto is survived by the mother of his children, Nora Ramirez Rivera of Manassas, Virginia; his four children, Juan Rivera (Paula) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Steven Rivera of Felicity, Ohio, Dr. Camilia Martin (Brad) of New York City, New York, and Gina McMillan (Howard) of Haymarket, Virginia; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service to celebrate Roberto’s life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10 am at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. John of the Cross Cemetery.
