San Antonio – Rodolfo Montemayor, age 78, went home to our Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born October 05, 1943 in La Parrita, Texas – otherwise known as “The Ranch” – to Guadalupe Montemayor and Berta Benavides.
After Rodolfo graduated high school in 1961, he spent 8 years in the United States Air Force. From there he went on to work at the U.S. Postal Service for approximately 30 years. He started as a Clerk, then moved on to Letter Carrier, and eventually became promoted to Supervisor. During his time as a Letter Carrier, he was an active member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. His last line of work was as a Bill Collector for Farm Bureau Bank.
Throughout Rodolfo’s life some of his favorite hobbies included playing golf, maintaining his yard and visiting Las Vegas where he liked to play the slot machines. Notably, on November 20, 2007 he hit a Hole-in-One, one of his most memorable moments playing golf. He also enjoyed sitting in his favorite recliner watching golf and football.
Rodolfo leaves behind to cherish his memory- wife of 58 years, Yolanda (Nino) Montemayor; son, Ronnie (Mary) Montemayor; daughter, Melissa (Edward) Garcia; four grandchildren, Jessica, Vanessa, and Ryan Montemayor, and Elijah Garcia; brothers, Rene Montemayor and Roel (Margarita) Montemayor; sister-in-law, Enedina Montemayor (wife of Rogelio); and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Berta Montemayor, his brother Rogelio Montemayor, and sister-in-law Idalia Montemayor (wife of Rene).
Rosary services were held on Sunday, January 09, 2022 at Sunset North Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas and the funeral Mass was held at St Mark’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas.
