Tomacita Barrera
San Diego – Tomacita P. Barrera, passed away on Saturday November 27, 2021, at the age of 96 at Villa of Corpus Christi South in Corpus Christi, Tx. Tomacita was a graduate of San Diego High School class of 1942 and a graduate of Texas State College for Women in 1945. She graduated with her master’s degree from Texas A&l in 1962. She worked as a business teacher and counselor for the San Diego ISD for almost 40 years. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Modesta Peña, Teofila P. Garcia and Guadalupe P. Gonzalez, and her daughter Celeste Belinda Barrera Solis. Survivors include her husband Jose Oscar Barrera; her son Joe O. Barrera Jr.; son in law Corando Solis Jr.; granddaughter Jessica Leah Barrera; grandsons Saul Andres Barrera and Ryan Jay Barrera; and her great granddaughter Padme Marie Barrera. Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego. Rosary will be recited at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.
