Alice – Yvonne Tyree, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in Alice, Texas. She was born on May 10, 1937 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Warren Price and Fannie Roach.
Yvonne lived in Alice and the surrounding areas where she raised her three daughters with her loving husband. She attended Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, OK and graduated in 1982. In 1987 she and her husband, Huey “Cowboy” Tyree, founded Tabernacle of Praise church “A Place of Love and Healing” in Alice, TX. Yvonne was credentialed with the Rhema Ministerial Association from 1987 to 2008. She retired from ministry in 2011.
Yvonne had a heart to help others, especially those in Alice and the surrounding areas. Through the church she ministered in prisons, helped battered women, supported other ministers in the area, traveled overseas to minister, offered The Way meetings to those in recovery, and was always willing to give a helping hand both in the church and the community. Her light, support, and love of God shined bright wherever she went.
Yvonne was so many things to so many people, a surrogate parent, a role model, a moral compass, as well as an inspiration.
She will be missed by all those that had the chance to know her!
She is preceded in death by her husband, Huey “Cowboy” Tyree; parents, Warren and Fannie Price; daughter, Karen McCoy; and sisters, LaVerne Shaw, Bobby Ventress, and Jean LaRue.
Loved ones left to cherish her memories are her children, Cindy (Herman) Baha, Janet (Rory) Dickens; brothers, Wallace Joe (Billy Joe) Price and Dewayne (Linda) Price; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
