FRANK WAYNE DOHONEY Frank Wayne Dohoney passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from complications related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Frank was born on January 24, 1945 to Frank Humphries Dohoney and Jane Williams Dohoney in Blossom, Texas. He married Deborah Ann Schneider in 1970 and had one son, Ryan, born in 1978. Frank enjoyed a long, adventurous, and fulfilling career in the petroleum industry working first in oil fields across the country with Gordon Vaughn and later in refineries along the Gulf Coast as well as on some of the most advanced offshore drilling platforms. Since his retirement and the death of Deborah (in 2014), Frank spent time caring for his family, making new friends, holding court at Dairy Burger with the coffee club, spending Christmas in Chicago with his son, and keeping up with family and old friends on the phone. Frank had an extraordinary gift for friendship matched only by his talent as a great storyteller. He was a loving husband to Deborah, an unfailingly supportive father to Ryan, and a devoted brother to Sally, Wayne, and Mike. He thrived in the company of loved ones and his spirit will live on like a gazelle dancing on the edge of the Wild Horse Desert. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Deborah; father, Frank; his mother Jane; his stepfather, Victor Diaz, and brother Wayne Diaz. He is survived by his son Ryan; son-in-law, Bryan Markovitz; sister, Sally Dohoney Fontenot; brother, Michael Dohoney; cousins, John and Rose Williams, along with many beloved nieces and nephews on both his and Deborah’s sides of the family. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice, Texas. Inurnment of Frank and Deborah Dohoney will follow at Alice Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alice Food Pantry, Coastal Bend CASA, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
